Sliders are becoming more and more popular and probably their most popular form is the full width slider. It’s more pleasant to view screen-wide images and do the same width small image boxes. It’s hard to see every detail of a small image, but the full width images don’t share this problem. A full width slider and the image inside fill up the whole browser width, from left to right. However, they do not fill the whole browser height. This leaves enough space below them to show some of the site’s main content.
Some of the most popular WordPress themes are built specifically to show a full width slider. The most common position is right below the main navigation menu. So probably the full width slider is the first thing a visitor sees upon arrival. This gives a huge opportunity for sliders to highlight the main services of the site and help visitors access them. Without any navigation option, the slider can still be interesting enough to make the visitor want to spend more time on the site. Smart Slider 3 PRO is a great tool to catch and keep the visitor’s attention and keep them on the website.

A speedy full width slider
It’s important to have a slider that doesn’t just look good but also fast. Smart Slider 3 is the best full width slider and it’s one of the fastest as well. There are various built-in features to keep the slider fast. For example, it’s possible to optimize the images by resizing them to the slider size. A smaller image is lighter and loads much faster than any big one. The Lazy loading is available as well, which loads only a limited number of slides. It’s also possible to select different images for tablet and mobile devices. This gives additional speed on mobile and improves the user experience.
Smart Slider 3 is available for WordPress, Joomla, and Magento. There is a standalone version as well, which doesn't require any CMS to run.
Use layers to tell your story
Every website has a story waiting to be told. Smart Slider 3 has 16 different layers to help you tell this story. Every layer has specific settings to customize them. For example, a heading layer allows you to change the font color, family, and size. But you can change the font weight, background color or padding as well. At a text layer, it’s possible to define device specific text for desktop, tablet, and mobile. The font family, color, and background are changeable as well. There is an image layer to add extra images to the slide, for example, pictures of a product. Or you can use it as an avatar image if you create a testimonial slider.
Show nice videos in your slider
Smart Slider 3 allows you to add videos from three different sources. If the video is available on YouTube, you can use the YouTube layer where you need to paste the URL of the selected video. If the video is hosted by Vimeo, you can use the Vimeo layer. In both layers, you might select a cover image, or even make the videos loop and autoplay.
If you don’t want to upload the videos to such public video sharing sites, you can upload it to your own server. Then you can use the video layer to display them. You might loop or autoplay the self-hosted videos as well. What is even more, you can use a self-hosted video as a slide background video. A slide background video covers the slide in every responsive scenario. It even works on modern mobile browsers which support the autoplay of a video.

Use lightbox for a complete user experience
Full width sliders might be wide, but usually, not really tall. This makes it difficult to show portrait images in the slider. Yet, it might be important for the visitors to see the full image, with the tallest possible height. Smart Slider 3 has a built in lightbox feature which is easy to use. The best part of the lightbox is that it can show much more than just one simple image. You can select multiple images, and add captions to each of them. What is even more, you can display both YouTube, Vimeo and self-hosted videos and load URLs as well. This feature is useful to show for example a contact or a registration form.
Add spectacular effects to your full width slider
A nice effect is always welcome on a website. This effect might be something small, like a pulsing button, or a nice animation between two images. In Smart Slider 3, there is a great variety of spectacular effects which your visitors will love. The plugin has a layer animation builder, which you can use to create any layer animation you would like to. Of course, there are lots of predefined animations which you can select or modify. You can even save your animations to use them later.
Smart Slider 3 comes with tons of ready to use slider templates which are easy to import.
There are many background animations you can assign to the whole slider or individual slides. These background animations give a nice yet professional look to your sliders. You can even use the Ken Burns effect on any background image. If you are looking for something more than just a slide changing transition, you’re still in the good place. There are many more effects waiting for you to use them. You can set the parallax effect to any background image. Or if you would like to something even more special, you can use the layer parallax. This effect can be activated on mouse movement or scrolling. It might even do a 3D animation, which creates a spectacular effect for your slider.
A full width slider that looks great on any device
Smart Slider 3 is a responsive full width slider. However, a full width slider which looks great on a desktop might shrink too much on a small mobile device. Smart Slider 3 has an option to set device specific slider size for mobile and tablet (both landscape and portrait orientation) to avoid such issues. Changing the slider size on mobile has another advantage: there is a bigger canvas area to place the layers. While many layers look great on desktop, it might be frustrating to see all of them on mobile. Smart Slider 3 allows you to hide any layer of your full width slider in any device. What is even more, if you don’t want the slider to show up on mobile, you can disable it.
Create sliders from your post quickly and easily
If you are looking for a post slider, Smart Slider 3 is the perfect choice for you. There is a WordPress post generator to show the latest posts from your blog. You can display the post title, featured image, excerpt and many other details such as custom fields. You might even link to the original post or its category. Some themes like Avada are packed with custom post types for your projects or testimonials. Smart Slider 3 allows you to create a full width slider from these custom post types as well.
Of course, you aren’t limited to WordPress posts only. If you have a WooCommerce site, you can create a slider from your WooCommerce products. Smart Slider 3 can fetch events from All-in-One Event Calendar and Events Manager. You can grab the images from Instagram or Flickr, and even from Facebook. If you need a quick image gallery, you can upload the images to a specific folder on your site. Then you can use the image from folder generator to automatically display all of the images.
Built-in image editor
Smart Slider 3 has a built-in image editor, Adobe Aviary. Thus, if you need to adjust your image, you can do it directly in the slider. Adobe Aviary offers many great features. It’s possible to change the focus and sharpness of the image, crop or resize it. You can apply many different effects, frames, adjust the brightness and contrast. When you finish the image and save it, it is selected automatically. The newly created image won’t overwrite your original image. So you might select it again, or create a new edited version.
